Luis Enrique Martínez García, popularly known as Luis Enrique, is a Spanish football manager and former professional footballer. Born on 8 May 1970 in Gijón, Spain, he is currently the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

CAREER

Luis Enrique began his senior career with Sporting Gijón, where he played from 1989 to 1992. He subsequently joined Real Madrid, representing the club between 1992 and 1996. In 1996, he made a controversial move to Barcelona after leaving Real Madrid on a free transfer. He spent eight seasons at Barcelona, from 1996 to 2004, and became an important member of the team. During his Barcelona career, he won two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey trophies, a Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

Four years after retiring as a player, Luis Enrique began his managerial career with Barcelona B in 2008. The family suffered a devastating loss in 2019 when their youngest daughter, Xana, died at the age of nine after battling cancer.
